Keith Makan - KMSecurity

Keith Makan is the founder of KMSecurity (Pty) Ltd. and a passionate security researcher with a storied career in helping clients worldwide become aware of information security risks. Keith has worked for clients in Europe, the Americas and Asia and, in that time, gained experience assessing clients from many industries and technologies. Keith’s expertise makes him ready to tackle any application, network, or organisation his clients need help with, and he is always eager to learn about new environments. As a security researcher, Keith has uncovered bugs in some prominent applications and services, including Google Chrome Browser, various Google Services and components of the Mozilla web browser.

spriteCloud

The original founding team at spriteCloud met initially, working at a global startup in the IPTV space, Joost.com. They are Mark Barzilay and Andrew McDowell. Joost was a venture started by the Founders of Skype. That startup pioneered peer-to-peer T.V. (P2PTV) technology for streaming media content. Mark and Andrew spent several years as part of the technology group, where they were in the team delivering software quality assurance programs. In 2009, Mark and Andrew went into business with their software testing consultancy, spriteCloud B.V.

The Founders, recognizing the need for operational and sales maturity, strategically added Martin Cunnington and Baruch Annink to the Executive team at spriteCloud. Their diverse backgrounds in work experience and cultures have proven to be a strong asset, enabling them to serve the local Dutch and worldwide markets equally well.

Today, spriteCloud is a specialist consultancy focused on software test automation, DevOps and DevSecOps domains. Our staff are international and appeal to SMB and enterprise customers looking for a high-end skill set and solid culture fit.

Our Partnership and Vision

Keith and Andrew met several years ago when spriteCloud was looking to build out a penetration testing service team in other global regions to enable a greater volume of work. The pair quickly saw they shared the same values for service quality and customer care, a deep passion for technology, and a love of open-source software.

In 2023, Keith and Andrew embarked on a journey to address a significant gap in the cybersecurity scanning market. They observed that many companies in the field were focused on proprietary technology, often leading to long-term billing contracts that restricted customer access to their data upon subscription cancellation. Recognizing the maturity of open-source solutions, they set out to provide the missing commercial support and in-house expertise, culminating in the development of our SonarSentry vulnerability and penetration testing solution.

At the beginning of 2024, the pair officially entered a joint venture partnership to bring a world-class service standard to their penetration testing services built on a foundation layer of data provided by SonarSentry.
